The Nez Perce Tribe is a federally recognized tribe in North-Central Idaho with more than 3,500 enrolled citizens. Originally, the Nimiipuu people occupied an area that included parts of present-day Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. Today and always, they have been on these lands and have immense ecological wisdom and knowledge about the lands where they have always fished, hunted, and gathered. Respect for the natural resources provided by the creator has guided the Nimiipuu to protect the land, water, and wildlife.
